It's tough to find the exact numbers and they can be fudged, but Global insists its "The Morning Show" is the #1 early AM wake-up program in the country.
Broadcast Dialogue reports Corus is boasting that the show's viewership is almost two times higher in the ratings than CTV's Your Morning and is more than double what City's Breakfast Television pulls in.
I have to admit morning TV is not my thing - I prefer radio in the morning because I have other things to do and it's portable - but I've seen the "Morning Show" on occasion and I can't see what the attraction is.
I'd love to get the actual numbers to see if these claims can be verified.

The numbers can always be verified...you just have to spin them the proper way.
Are they lying? Not really. Are they being transparent? Not really.
What matters is that I make you aware that I'm #1, not necessarily how I got to be #1.
Being #1 among six-foot tall, left-handed Scorpios born on Tuesdays is still "being #1".

CFTO has a banner on its 6 PM news intro claiming to be "Toronto's #1 News." Since we can't really get access to the ratings anymore, I've often wondered if this claim is still true. There's no real way to know.

It's the only national network morning show.
Your Morning is relegated to CTV News Channel in many markets

They're all tied for last.

Correct. To quote the legendary Chuck D: "Don't believe the hype".
It's all marketing and sales-driven spin with the bonus that the audience perceives it as true.

Actually Your Morning runs live across the entire CTV network. However it airs in the really early morning hours on CTV's western stations before their local CTV Morning Live newscasts go to air at 6 AM local. eg) Vancouver gets the entire broadcast live at 3 AM PT, Calgary/Edmonton get the first 2 hours at 4 AM MT, and Winnipeg gets only the first hour at 5 AM CT.

I'm a frequent viewer of Global Toronto and Global Peterborough but, good Lord, that show is an instant channel changer.
Would somebody please come up with a more creative program format than the typical morning show tripe we've been trying to digest for decades.

Corus' press release for this cites Numeris PPM numbers... whatever the heck this all means.
Source: Numeris PPM Data, Broadcast Year-to-date (Aug 26/24 – Apr 13/25) – confirmed data, Total Canada, Mo-Fri 6a-12p, Based on Canadian news/lifestyle morning show genre, CDN CONV COM ENG, CTV based on "Com", all other networks based on "Total", 3+ airings, excludes specials, A18+ AMA(000), growth based on same weeks YoY; reach based on Global Total, A18+ AvWkRch(000)

Same net effect on the ratings difference.

That's a fair use of the ratings.

They are highest ranking by a kilometre.... and second place is usually CHCH. City's election night only got about 5% the audience that CTV brought in....
