My thoughts on Dutch TV
Just a short note on my thoughts on cable TV in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
I did not spend to much time watching TV on my recent trip to Holland but I did notice a few things that surprised me in comparison to Montréal. The amount of American and UK English TV channels with Dutch subtitles was noticeable. There were very few Dutch only stations.
In Montréal the French language is more visible.
I did not have a chance to turn on the radio, so I am not able to comment on this area of media.

I have never been to the Netherlands, but I'm certainly interested in their TV there and surprised to hear how much of it is in English. Way back in the 70s, a family acquaintance went to Holland and brought me back a TV Guide from there. I've always loved the cover and you don't have to speak the language to get it.
"Zorro Kompt." Which I'm assuming means Zorro comes. An odd looking Zorro, but Zorro nonetheless.
I've also posted a programming page, which appears to feature The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a big hit in North America at the time. Another page focuses on music, in this case Diana Ross & The Supremes and Canada's Buffy Ste. Marie, for some reason.

No offense meant to either the actor or Dutch television, but why is Manuel from Fawlty Towers (Andrew Sachs) cast as Zorro?

OK, here's one more. In 1969, my sister went to Puerto Rico for her honeymoon. Thankfully they found the time to bring back something called "Tele Guia," showing what was on television there in the late 60s.
You'll notice there was one English-only station at the time - channel 18. No idea what their TV looks like now, but with satellite and streaming, I assume their viewing choices are very different. And I love the fact that the only English song in their Hit Parade page is Sugar Sugar by The Archies!
