    Elvis media reaction 40 years ago

    Elvis died 40 years ago, and CBS didn't even make it the top story on the Evening News that night. I remember a now-deceased editor at BN - who was not an Elvis fan - who didn't even want to put Elvis's death in the cable package that night and when he did, refused to make it the lead story. Now of course it would own the news cycle for days.
