This Thursday's "Law & Order: Toronto" is doing its take on one of Canada's most notorious murder cases. See if this logline, from an episode called "Bitter Pill," rings a bell:
"When a billionaire pharmaceutical CEO and his philanthropist wife are found dead in their home, Graff and Bateman are called to investigate."
It appears to be based on the still unsolved killings of Barry & Honey Sherman, who were found dead in their estate in 2017. It has since become one of the city's (and Canada's) most notorious killings and eight years later, there have still been no arrests.. I'll be curious to see if they include the incorrect conclusions of the actual police, who lost precious investigation time by originally declaring it a murder-suicide.
Of course, this episode is fictional and I'm sure they'll find a culprit by the end of the hour. But the real case continues to baffle experts, including investigative reporter Kevin Donovan of the Toronto Star, who often updates the story with an exclusive that just serves to deepen the mystery.
It airs on City TV Thursday night at 10 PM.

I hope the crack detectives can solve tonight's case and in the ad on Sportsnet, I also hope they can bring the Stanley Cup back to Canadian Soil!

I haven't seen the episode yet, but it's on my DVR. No less an expert than the Toronto Star's Investigative Reporter Kevin Donovan, who has had numerous exclusives on this case over the years, was on NT1010 Friday morning and praised the show.
Obviously, the murder victims were under different names and slightly different circumstances were presented. But he said they got a lot of the side details right and thought it was well done.
That's pretty high praise and I look forward to seeing "who done it" - even if it's only fictional.

Donovan has said he thinks he knows who killed the Shermans, but of course he can't say out loud.
I hope some day he can spill the beans.
L and O Toronto has done a good job this season tackling thinly disguised crime cases from Toronto.
I thought they did a really good job with the case of the girls who swarmed and killed the homeless man.
Also the infamous Person Airport gold heist.
Of course both these episodes had totally fictitious plot changes and endings but I thought they were well done.
