Lost Together- Blue Rodeo Documentary Celebrates 40 Years Of The Band

One of the best live concerts I have ever been to was  Blue Rodeo many years ago in Owen Sound.
Stumbling through the dial last night I came upon  a new documentary on the Toronto band that celebrates and tracks their 40 years together.  The doc grabs you near the beginning and I had to watch the whole program.

The show is available on CBC GEM and will be on the main CBC network this Saturday March 23 at 7pm.

All the members in the band past and present seemed very down to earth in the documentary.  Correction Lost Together runs this SUNDAY at 7pm on CBC.  Even if you are not a big Blue Rodeo fan, it is an interesting documentary.

Much Music was pivotal in Blue Rodeo's success.  No radio stations picked up their first single Outskirts from the album of the same name.  After the first few months Outskirts had only sold 3,000 copies.  The second single "Try" again wasn't picked up by any radio stations.

The record company told the band that unless sales picked up, Outskirts would be their only album.  Much Music reluctantly put Try in rotation and quickly in heavy rotation.  Radio soon picked up the song because of the airplay on Much and Outskirts went on to sell 4X Platinum, over 400,000 copies in Canada.   Try became #1 on the Canadian country charts, #3 on A/C charts and #6 in the top 100.
