There's a new irritant that's invaded your radio and if you've ever stayed tuned through even one commercial break, you've heard it by now. Because it airs every single damn time! It's a commercial for a company called BDC, and frankly, I'm still not entirely sure what they do, but it has something to do with finding people employment. I think.
The reason I don't know is because this thing starts with a tap dance routine sound effect and then goes into its spiel. But because it airs non-stop, by the time I've heard those first dance steps, I'm gone and never hear the actual pitch.
I understand how advertising works - you repeat the message over and over because you're never sure who's tuning in and when. But when you air the same spot over and over and over literally every break dozens if not hundreds of times a day, it passes tedious and becomes unbearable. I hope it's not a long campaign.
Because as it stands now, BDC stands for Bad Damn Commercial. And frankly, it almost makes me miss Fiona!

Is this like the "donut-style" break, where you play a 15-seconder at onset of the stop set, but play a second 15-second spot at the tail end?

BDC oh my, it's because bankruptcies are down and the economy doesn't look good. Glad they are spending their hard earned profit on radio ads.
