I thought TSN1050's PD was running both AMs for Bell?
Jeff MacDonald was doing double duty for a while, yes (from Nov 2021 after Mike Bendixen was let go in a Bell wave). I believe MacDonald's 1010 involvement ended at some point in 2024, though.
Remember RadioActive's October 2024 post with Jerry Agar on-air, Turner introduced as the "Assistant Program Director", and it was acknowledged they were without a primary one?
Good on Turner! He's been at the station a long time, working his way up, and deserves it.

I hope this doesn't mean he won't appear on air anymore. I think he missed a good bet by not becoming a station personality. He always makes me laugh.

I'll second that AspectRatio. I'd love to hear him on-air more too and not just on a weekly roundtable discussion.
p.s. the early years of Moore In The Morning when Robert was part of the MITM team, and he was pretty much a constant, almost hourly presence, piping up when he felt like John needed/deserved it, were so so good.

Yes! The deadpan chemistry between those two was hilarious. Like an old married couple or a Statler and Waldorf thing.
It was also nice to see Turner take over the 5 am "Early Edition" from Iain Grant, and Dave Agar would join Turner regularly.

Robert is a great choice for PD. He's been at CFRB a long time and knows the people and the station well. I knew him when I was imaging Newstalk 1010 in 2004-2005. He was very astute then and still is.

I'm sure his appearance has changed, but here's an interview with Robert Turner from 2015, ten years ago, if you're curious what he looks (looked) like.

Question: How much say does the Program Director have in hiring/retention?
If significant, how does that explain the likes of Agar, Hutton, Richards?
