These Baseball Broadcasts Won't Happen Here - But They Will In Detroit

This one is for any Tiger fans in Windsor or who get the Detroit TV stations in their cable package - you're going to see some free baseball games on over-the-air television this season.

In an era when almost all sports have been relegated to cable, Detroit's WJBK has announced it's going to be showing 10 Tiger games for free, part of a simulcast with FDSN, the local cable sports network. Unfortunately none of them are Jays games, but if you're a fan of the Tigers and don't get the sports channel, it's a way to see at least a few of the games at no charge. (They're also showing five free Red Wings games, as well.)

It's the first time since 2007 you'll be able to see regular season baseball for free.

You can see the schedule here

This could never happen here, since Rogers owns the Jays and fiercely keeps their games only on Sportsnet. Long gone are the days when CTV used to present a game of the week, usually on Sundays, fronted by the now deceased Don Chevrier. Those were the days!
