Call The Feds! CBS Cancels Two Of Its FBI Series

Have to say I wasn't expecting this. In the past four years, CBS has pulled a "Law & Order," calling its Tuesday primetime line-up "FBI Night."

But that ends after this season, as the network has cancelled "FBI: International" and "FBI: Most Wanted." The latter ran for six seasons and the former was on for four.

But the flagship series, just called "FBI," has another two years guaranteed and it will likely be joined by a fourth franchise newcomer, "FBI: CIA" (which are different agencies, so no, it doesn't make a lot of sense.)

But the night of all three in a row ends with this season. I was not a fan of "International," and never believed the FBI could act with such impunity in other countries. But "Most Wanted" was pretty good and I'll miss it.

By the way, TV Guide's Matt Roush notes that if it seems like some cast members have been missing from the original, it's not a coincidence. It's a way of saving money to have certain actors absent from certain episodes.

I have never watched any of these shows so I can't comment if cancellation was appropriate or not.  But...CBS has a habit of pulling a series and then changing their minds, sometimes more than once!   Hello S.W.A.T.

I never watched any of the FBI shows, but remain a fan of NCIS and NCIS Origins. I will give the new Boston Blue a go when it premiers with the Danny Regan character from Blue Bloods.

Sad to see both International and Most Wanted are cancelled. I was expecting International being cut as it's filmed all over the place in Europe which definitely was a factor due to costs.  MW wasn't the same after Julian McMahon "left".  Didn't like International at first because I found Luke Kleintank's over-acting was a bit much, but he got better as time went on.

Interesting to note:

"The FBI franchise comes from an outside supplier, Universal Television. CBS has had a couple of difficult renewal negotiations with the NBCUniversal studio over the past couple of years, with financials believed to have played a role in today’s cancellations."

That might also explain why none of the FBI shows have seen a North American DVD/Blu-ray release, whereas Dick Wolf's Chicago and Law & Order shows are readily available.

Never liked International.
Only watched a few episodes and it was too absurd.
Also it was easy to find out that there is no such thing as an international FBI office that sends agents all around the world who then operate over and above the police forces of the countries that they are in.
Also the local law enforcement officers are always made to look like they are inadequate compared to the brilliant and much smarter FBI.

Plus, no matter were they go over there, regardless of country, every single one of the officials and suspects they come across magically all speak perfect English! If only...

They are obviously using the universal translator from Star Trek.

Well, I suppose they could. The rights to Star Trek are owned by CBS.

And now, after two resurrections, CBS has Swatted SWAT again. This time, for good. Guess the third time was not the charm.

Re: Call The Feds! CBS Cancels Two Of Its FBI Series

Yeah, really.
The original SWAT was a big hit and the idea of a special tactical police unit was fresh.
The reboot was pretty good too, but I stopped watching after it began to turn into a soap opera with storylines for the cops that involved their boring personal troubles.
