I wasn't really listening to Deb Hutton on CFRB Tuesday, but I heard her interrupt a guest at around 11:10 AM, saying they were going to P.M. Trudeau's address to the nation on the American tariffs. He started talking, then I turned back to AM640.
Just to see if there was any delay and how they were handling the brief French part, I tuned back to 1010 about 2 minutes later - and she was interviewing a guest. A few minutes later, they went to a spot break.
Even if you're not a fan of Trudeau, this was a very important address, perhaps the most important of his time in office. Why would they not air the entire thing? Did they somehow lose the feed? What happened?
And by the way, congrats to Ben Mulroney, who was able to act as a translator when he inevitably turned to French. Right guy on at the right time, or there likely would not have been any way to follow what he was saying.

Update: It appears they're now rebroadcasting the address from the beginning, while 640 is in the middle of the Q&A with reporters. Very strange. They have access to CTV News Channel and CP24. How could they not have the original feed?

Airing a few clips of the news conference after the fact and not the live feed is a new low for CFRB 1010.
This morning CNN covered Trudeau live and a major market Canadian radio station did not.
Disappointing to say the least. 1010 let their listeners down at a time when they needed their radio station to keep them informed.

I have not been a supporter of Mr. Trudeau or his parties policy's , but to give credit where it is due, his speech today was impressive. Last flicker of a dying flame perhaps, but still inspiring none the less.
