I always thought there was a rule that media was not allowed to report on opinion polls come Election Day. Yet I saw CFTO go over Wednesday's final poll results on its noon news, complete with huge full screen graphics and a clip from pollster Nick Nanos. A few radio stations have been referring to the results as well.
I recall a rule that said that was not allowed on the actual day of the vote. Has that changed?

The rule is that you can't release the results of a brand new poll on election day. So the pollsters plan it so that their last poll is released by the day before.
Each news outlet can make a judgment call on whether to recap the past poll results in their election day coverage but there are poll aggregating websites where anyone could see the past survey results anyway.
Per Elections Ontario:
"You may not publish, broadcast or transmit election survey results on election day if those results have not previously been made available to the public. This rule also applies to websites, email and social media."

Too wishy-washy. If their main concern is poll results influencing undecideds, they should also forbid announcing poll results during advance polling times.
