An accident or a deliberate move by some rogue programmer? You can decide for yourself, but the headline pretty much says it all and the usual conspiracy crazies are going wild.
Apple fixing iPhone glitch that swaps 'racist' with 'Trump' in dictation
This isn't the first time I've heard of something like this. Just after Windows 95 was released, Microsoft came out with a new version of its "Word" program. Someone found out that if you typed in "I'd like to kill Bill Gates," and accessed the tools for alternate phrases, one of them that came up was "I'll drink to that."
I tried it back then and yes, that's exactly what happened. It appears some programmer somewhere thought it would be funny and no one would ever discover it. But you can't hide anything from some computer users and they somehow found it and made a big deal out of it.
Needless to say, it was fixed quickly and that doesn't come up anymore!
