The right-wing cult doesn't even understand that they are not protected from negative consequences just because they voted their leader in. Case in point: MAGA finding out the hard way.. now that many of them are being fired from their cushy US government jobs this past week.
I'm glad our media is more sane.
Poilievre is not acting like a dictater unlike trump.
He might defund the CBC, but he's not afecting the rest of the media.

The most disgusting, deplorable, despicable, full-of-themselves assholes in the history of civilization. Americans are the absolute LOWEST form of life on this planet, a blithering malignant cancer of society. Each and every American is, in the words of Jim Rome, a straight up, bona fide JACKASS. You Americans voted in who you wanted voted in, and what happened to the AP, and what may happen to your public broadcasters, is all because of who YOU voted in. YOU clueless morons elected a known malignant narcissist, rapist and CONVICTED FELON, only because you want to "own the libs", and now you're seeing the results of your choices at the ballot box. You made your bed, you lay in it. Don't come and bitch to us that you don't like what your "president" is saying and doing - the results of the election are YOUR FAULT AND ONLY YOUR FAULT - NOBODY ELSE'S.

You were one of the posters who complained bitterly about politics sneaking onto the board just last month. And yet here is this rant. Doesn't quite match.
I might remind you that many millions of Americans did not cast their votes for the worst President in the country's history and they are just as alarmed about what's going on as many in Canada. My sister and her family in NYC are just one of so many. She's sick about what's happening, but can't do much about it. So I think what you wrote, while understandable in the heat of anger, is way over the top.
And ironically, since you objected to some earlier comments here, I've also received many complaints about your recent post. So the lesson, I suppose, is you can't win. Or at least as an Admin., I can't.
I actually raised this issue in a previous thread and it devolved into a string of comments on the U.S., the Middle East and everything in between. I got so bad I had to close it down.
I, too, would like to see the temperature turned down here. And while I think this topic is an example of what I feared would happen down south (hence my original editorial) we have to keep this in perspective and not overreact in fury. (And trust me, I'm as livid about what's going on down there as anyone.) This is a radio board. It is not a political one. Let's try to stick to that philosophy and everyone will be a lot happier.
After all, some of my best sisters are American!

FP (and everyone else): I hate what Trump stands for. He's dangerous. He's a demagogue. He's quite arguably Fascist. I sympathize with how you feel. I feel pretty much the same level of anger with America. But I know that's just a gut reaction to arguably the most extreme yet frighteningly mainstream politics we've seen in modern-day North America. So, when I calm down I realize I don't really feel that way at all about anybody except those who actively support what's going down. I have lots of friends in the U.S. who are appalled, frightened, and feel totally f'd up and politically deflated. Your comments are ridiculously over the top. It's as if you suddenly exploded, out of nowhere. But, hey, these are pretty special times. And we have pockets of this insanity right here in Canada, too. It's actually kind of a global thing. But we're overall pretty intelligent people here at SOWNY. If we do stray into politics, and I think these days it's inevitable and unavoidable, let's keep our cool and do an intelligent job of it. If we want to talk politics in this truly weird and unsettling moment, there's a lot of grey space - like the tendency of all political extremes to change names, or the nature of elites, or whatever - that could be fruitful to discuss.
Its weird that there's americans who support trump and want a third world stile dictatership.
They will flea to europe or canada when it gets bad and spread there foolish values around.
Trump should leev the media alone.
