Her name is Sharan Kaur and she's some kind of political operative/analyst. I'm not entirely sure for who, but you'll be able to find out for sure when she takes John Oakley's place behind the mic next week on AM 640.
Oakley is going on a week's vacation to Florida, at a time when many Canadians are considering cancelling their trips down south due to a certain White House tariff proponent.
It will be interesting to see what he says about that when he returns.

Safe to say it will somehow be pro-Trump. He's a fan.

He'll be missed, but not by me.

I'm going to South Carolina to play golf with a few friends in March. I didn't realize I'd be criticized for doing so. A friend of mine is in the travel industry and says that USA destination flights are solidly booked. It doesn't seem like many Canadians are cancelling however, some may be doing so because of our declining dollar.

It's a morals decision of good conscience .. some, with stronger conviction, will take a stronger stand ..
Trump tariff turmoil drives travel cancellations: ‘We can’t support what’s going on down there’
Travel agency flooded with calls from Canadians scrapping trips to the U.S., and even long-term, warm-weather Snowbirds are putting properties up for sale after ‘trust that’s been broken.’

Just heard that minutes ago! Might tune in for a bit. Lilley isn’t cranky like Agar, he just told us…!

As a regular Oakley listener, I'll give her a shot in the host's chair, mostly because what is over on 1010 during that time is just awful.

I'll give it a listen.
Meantime a piece of trivia about her name.Meaning of "Kaur": In Punjabi, "Kaur" translates to "princess" or "lioness." It is a symbol of empowerment, strength, and dignity. By adopting the name "Kaur," Sikh women are reminded of their inherent worth and sovereignty.

Actually she was an ex-assistant to former Finance Minister Bill Morneau. I found it hilarious that off the top of her first show, she apologized to Oakley's regular audience for being a Liberal! Although after what they did to her boss, I sense there's not a lot of love lost there.
She'll get her chance to say her piece - Oakley is actually off for the next two weeks.

They made the mistake of having Alex Pierson join her for her first segment. Needless to say, the poor woman couldn't get a word in edgewise. She's doing better now that she is on her own. Good luck to her.

For someone who has worked in the halls of power she does not seem to know much.
She pronounced Musk's organization, DOGE like Dodge, as in Dodge City. It's pronounced DOHZ
She did a segment on the Superbowl while advising off the top she knows nothing about football or sports for that matter.
Granted she dwelled on the half time show, and Drake being dissed.

Counterpoint: No-one aside from MAGA goose-steppers/Muck incel CHUDs give a good goddamn on how it's pronounced.

But if you are a media pundit that's your bread and butter -- to get those things right.

Agreed - regardless of your own stance, getting names right and using them correctly goes a long way.

By legitimising the illegitimate? That is a pretty weak posit, and a rhetorical attack that has already been deployed by the Bros.

There's an old adage in news: get it first, but first get it right.
You can hate the person you're reporting on, but if you can't properly pronounce words they're associated with, it hurts your credibility, not theirs.
And God knows, they have little enough as it is.
