New "Buy Canadian" PSA Spots Appearing On Some Radio Stations

The tariffs are off for now. But the commercials are just getting started.

Mike Occomore and Larry McInnis - both formerly with CHUM-FM - have created a free PSA for stations wanting to encourage listeners to buy Canadian.

"Stand," as the campaign is called, uses the tagline "shop as if your country depends on it."

I have yet to hear it played on any Toronto radio station, but if you're curious what it sounds like, you can listen to the 30 sec. freebie here.

Are the Ontario/partner TV ads running on all of the US news networks?  They are quite prominent on CNN and I have seen them on the 6:30 news on American TV.  Just wondering if they are running on MSNBC and FOX News Network.  I would imagine that they are, I don't subscribe to them.

The latest set of these patriotic "Buy Canadian" PSA spots feature comedian Ron James and CBC vet Rick Mercer. Expect to be hearing them soon, although you can preview them here

They've come out with a fairly short spot talking about how Canadian the Spence company is, and provide a definition of a Canadian woman, which was....odd and make it cubic zirconia clear that their jewellery pieces are "custom manufactured in Canada."

It's the two guys talking and thankfully no Fiona or Sarah in sight, um, sound.

Though the copy reads like it was written while downing more than a couple of Canadian beers it's the least annoying Spence ad I've heard so far although others may have a different opinion.
