Award Winning Amazon Prime Series Coming To CBC Gem For Free

You may have heard of, but never seen, the series called "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." It ran on Amazon Prime from 2017-2023, picking up just about every major Emmy around in 2018, for Best Comedy, Best Actress and Supporting Actress, Best Director and Best Writing.

Now the show that aired for a fee will be coming to another streamer for free, when the series premieres on CBC's Gem website in March. The show concerns a woman in the 50s trying to make it in the normally men's world of comedy (like Joan Rivers) and finds both resistance and success.

I'm not a huge fan of the CBC, as many here know, but I do have praise for their Gem website. In addition to a host of Canadian series you may or may not want to see, it also boasts many series from various parts of the world, including the U.S. and the U.K., all of which are free. You do have to register, but there's no fee to watch anything, as long as you're in Canada (or under a VPN.)

It also has the U.K. version of the hit CBS series "Ghosts" and a host of good movies with no commercials, including the "Summer of Soul," a documentary about the long forgotten 1969 Black version of Woodstock, that featured acts like Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Nina Simone and Sly and the Family Stone, among others. That one streams in February. I've seen it elsewhere and it was excellent.

In the meantime, the CBC has released a list of what's coming to the streamer next month.
