Oakville's own 21 year old Madeline Schizas claimed 3rd today at the 2025 Canadian Figure Skating Championships.,
She isn't the only one to perhaps skate on thin ice, her dad (Lou Schizas) did it daily, with his daily business reports on AM 640. He skated on the thin ice of the business world and the Bitcoin markets.
His daughter however, has some wonderfully elegant skills on ice.
I guess you can file this story under "Who would have thunk it"
I would watch her trajectory as she heads towards the next winter Olympics.
Here is more on this from TSN and video of yesterday's skate from CBC
And as Lou would say, Happy Capitalism, err... Happy Skating

Schizas was on Oakley's show so much back in the day, he was practically co-host, along with the Raging Redhead, Ernie Eves, Frank Stronach and others. How soon they were kicked to the curb. Oakley remains, along with Tom, but Tom pays his way, so he's safe.

Not sure which way the money flowed with Schizas at 640, but judging from his broadcast output he was looney tunes - I could seem him paying for speech. Last I heard he was showing up on CKNT asset Richard Syrett's Lord Haw-Haw reboot.

I remember hearing Lou's voice on AM 640 back in the mid 00s.
Good job for his daughter.

Chrisphen, I felt Lou was a character with a whacky personality, he stood out though. He was a nice man in my books, Years ago I was involved with a government sponsored entrepreneur training program and I asked Lou to come and speak. He did that on his own time and he didn't charge a thing. Class act in my books, with a distinct personality. It must have worked. because he made the most of his air time on 640.
