New Book's Plot: What Happens When Pirates Take Over 100 Radio Stns.?
It's certainly an intriguing plotline. A new fiction book written by a long time broadcaster, is called "Dead Air: The Day The Music Died." The logline:
"This psychological thriller captures the intense 24-hour period following a shocking takeover of 100 radio stations across five major U.S. cities by a group of pirates, plunging radio professionals into a crisis reminiscent of the iconic "War of the Worlds" broadcast."
Given how some stations are programmed these days, they just might be an improvement!

Plot summary depends on band and age group demographics:
AM band: Male listeners 50+ suffer increased heart attacks / strokes when talk radio doesn't talk.
Canadian FM band: Automobile and truck repair workshops grind to a halt, as there's no Trooper or Chilliwack on Geezer Rock.
Any station airing NPR: No more longform pieces featuring the sound of a cook scraping beans and rice out of a pot. Narrator translates over the cook speaking in their native tongue.
Sports radio: The silence is golden.
