Marilyn Denis has announced she'll be ending her 13 year run as host of her morning show on CTV.
In her announcement the 64 year old said she'll continue her morning show cohosting duties on CHUM FM & that she would also continue with her podcasts.
The end of an era at CTV.

She hosted CityLine for a heck of a long time before that - I believe from 1989 to 2008, only leaving because of Citytv being sold to Rogers and her remaining as a CTV employee.

I only met her once - she half yelled at me for accidentally misspelling her last name on air. (I put two n's in Denis.) And she was right - I should have known. I was usually a lot more careful than that. Anyway, I wish Ms. "One N'" luck in her remaining endeavours, although I doubt she'll need it. She's been doing just fine on her own for several decades.
Here's her announcement:

Her move to CTV was probably just as well give the apparent belief at City and Rogers that women should "age out" of broadcasting in their 40s. Bell is much more enlightened, allowung women to continue on the air into their 60s, provided they dye their hair.

official blurb from Bell, with a good overview of Marilyn's career all the way back to the start.
don't know if this solid and well deserved farewell for Marilyn is a result of a ripple effect of the LaFlamme Farewell Fox Pas, but it's a happier exit in any event.
when will the conjectures about the new show and the new host begin...

Wonder how long she plans to stay on CHUM's morning show. She did make a point of saying it was her decision on leaving TV. I think it would have been a bit of a grind getting up early to do radio mornings and then go down the hall with the often live morning TV show. Her TV show looked like there was a fair bit of effort to it.
Never hear how her and Jamar are doing in the ratings. Last that I heard a few years ago sounded like they were doing very well. Anyone with any info on how Pooja and Gurdeep are doing so far on CHFI?
I would think there would be some morning audience back and forth between CHUM and CHFI.

That sparks a memory that I once read: Her multi-job commute, of course, was more complicated when Denis was doing CHUM mornings at Yonge & St. Clair (1331 Yonge St.) and had to head down to 299 Queen Street West where "Cityline" was taped, when she hosted that program. Apparently a car and driver would be waiting at 9:00 am once the radio shift finished that would usher her down in time for the 10:00 am taping (or live). Not the worst commute in good weather or light traffic (15-25 minutes) but apparently during winter conditions and traffic snarls (construction, etc.) there were times when she barely made it. I guess compared to that, she'll take down the hall!

If I’m not mistaken CityLine was done live for most of its history prior to CTV/Bell Media taking over. It was, after all, a live call-in show when Dini Petty hosted, and I know it was still live after Marilyn took over (my mom was on the show once as a phone guest - they used to take show topic suggestions from viewers and she had suggested a show that they ended up doing, such was the interactive nature of Citytv in those days).
The intro I have on tape from the episode my mom was on included Marilyn driving to work at CHUM, and then rushing to get to 299 Queen West, arriving just in time for the show to start. All set to Elton John’s I’m Still Standing, of course.

CTV hasn't waited long to replace Marilyn Denis' show on the network. They've already named a de facto replacement with a program scheduled to debut in the Fall.

"audience games" ?!? shades of Let's Make A Deal
the whole production sounds good in print, it could turn out to be terrific... dinna you know there's also a beloved, recently "retired" female Toronto morning show host who'd be an exceptional fit for a show like this.

The final show airs on Friday, and I believe Roger Ashby will be one of the guests. In a Canadian Press article, Marilyn Denis remembers what it was like trying to compete with the on-air guys in radio during the early part of her career.
“I was brought up by men, and they were about: This is how we do it and this is what we expect from you and this is the format. Follow the format or follow the sun,” she said, noting there weren't many female jockeys when she began her radio career in 1976.
“But at the same time they said, 'But we still want you to be you. You have to figure that out. We can't tell you how to do that.'… That is a dance that you have to learn how to do but then when you know that they have your back, then (things) open."

Why are you making me think of the theme from Chuck?

Unless he is going to be on the show again tomorrow, Roger Ashby was on yesterday briefly. He presented Marilyn with a new set of golf clubs. She didn't know that Ashby was going to be on the show. They had dinner a few nights earlier and he didn't say anything. The two have tried in the past to get a golf game in, and since Marilyn won't be doing the TV show after tomorrow, Roger and Marilyn are planning to hit the links.
But who knows, maybe he will be on again for the last show.

Thanks for the update. My info was that he'd turn up for her final goodbye, but if he'd been there on Wednesday, there wasn't much point in a repeat performance. I did watch the segment online and boy was that ever a short appearance! I was hoping they'd chat about their past in radio together but it wasn't to be. In case you missed it, you can see it here, around the 42-minute mark.
However, her final show on Friday did have one surprise guest, as the story below reveals.

It was obvious that Marilyn was highly regarded by the crew that worked on the show, and Bell has dedicated the studio in her name. Really nice that she is best friends with her former floor director, Kathy Adetuyi and had Kathy as a large part of the last show. Also I thought it was interesting that Marilyn said in various interviews that radio still, and always has been her first love in broadcasting.

She has been complimentary of the crew over the years lets them to their thing at tapings. If the control room wants an intro redone she just does what they ask, like a pro.
