It happens every year. Or rather, twice a year – the semi-annual time switch can cause some here to see the wrong time displayed on the board, depending on a number of factors that, frankly, I could never quite figure out.
Some tell me everything’s fine. Others complain they’re now an hour out. And every six months I find myself posting the same message. So here goes.
The good news is the fix is, like your friendly neighbourhood moderator, very simple.
At the top of the page, if you're signed in, click on “My Options.” Below your username and email, you’ll find a section called “Timezone Preference.” On the drop down menu, adjust the time by an hour. (For example, Daylight Time can be altered to -4 AST to get it to show the correct time. Standard Time goes back to -5.)
Go to the bottom of that page and hit “submit.”
That’s it. The time should now display correctly. And hopefully, you didn’t lose that extra hour of sleep getting it done.

What about just switching the time permanently to UTC/GMT - or am I just showing my bias as a former shortwave enthusiast?

I used WWV to reset all my clocks last night. Unfortunately, all of my various timepieces tend to drift after a while. But it's nice to know my watch lines up with the beeps on CityNews 680 for now!

I find there's something reassuring about the twice a year how to fix the wrong time here on the big yellow board post. Now if I could only figure out when to eat lunch and dinner today.
Thanks RA! 🤨🕓🤔🕒😁

I think it was Iain Grant that pointed us to this website, which gives the exact time and compensates for a delay on the Internet.
Useful if you want to set something to the exact second of time.
