Tom Mulcair A Busy Guy Today
Tom Mulcair has been on CTV News Channel a lot today regarding Quebec's provincial election. Tom was set up outside of a returning office this afternoon, talking to candidates. He was on Newstalk 1010 a few times today and no doubt was on CJAD and likely some French language radio as well. I think TVA has him for their TV coverage tonight so he may not be on CTV much for actual election results.
The Quebec election will have limited appeal and interest outside of the province, but both CTV and CBC news networks cover provincial elections whenever they happen. CTV News Channel is simulcasting CTV Montreal's coverage and CBC will pick up their coverage from CBC Montreal.
If you are into news and politics, it is always interesting to see how others cover an election, even what their news sets for the election look like.

Polls closed at 8pm and first early results came in less than three minutes later on both CBC and CTV. Amazingly CTV News declared a CAQ Legault majority government at 8:08:05 barely eight minutes after the polls closed. That has got to be some kind of record. Only 33 ridings out of 125 had reported in by this stage but the CAQ was leading or projected to win in 25. Not even any of the French networks were this quick.
When CTV declared a CAQ majority they went to CAQ campaign headquarters for reactions. CTV Montreal anchor Mutsumi Takahashi commented to the reporter how quiet the room was. The reporter mentioned the headquarters were watching other networks and the large crowd wasn't aware of the CAQ majority government declaration. Matsumi said that's what happens when you don't watch CTV election coverage. I thought that was pretty funny. CBC declared a majority at 8:11 and TVA the big private French network a few minutes after that.
