Bye Newsy, Hello Scripps News

It's a pretty obscure channel even for those with an antenna. That's what you'll need to watch the all-news station called "Newsy" in Toronto. It airs on channel 51.7, a subcarrier of the Ion Networks out of the Buffalo area. And it comes in very well here for the most part.

I doubt many watch it, although it tries hard to be apolitical. But after New Year's Eve, it will be no more. Newsy is morphing into "Scripps News," named after the company that owns it. And it promises far more coverage by combining the news resources of that organization (Scripps currently owns WKBW Channel 7 in Buffalo, along with the Ion Networks) with the current Newsy staff. And some of the local Buffalo content may turn up on the reborn newcomer.

The rather obscure news service has been around since 2008.

Re: Bye Newsy, Hello Scripps News

I watch it and like much of what they do. In fact I like a lot of stuff in the numerical 50 section.

However while I get almost 50 stations I am no longer able to watch both CITY-TV - 57-1 and Global- 41-1....it's been this way for a while.
