Emergency Alert Still Not Quite Ready For Prime Time

An emergency alert was triggered on Monday, after two shootings allegedly by the same gunman rocked Mississauga. While telling listeners what to watch for, the automated voice system asked people to call "Nine hundred and eleven."

I actually thought they'd fixed this.

I guess not.

I suppose it all depends on how it's entered and the system just repeats what it sees. Garbage in, garbage out, as the old saying goes.

Anyway, hope they catch the guy.

Re: Emergency Alert Still Not Quite Ready For Prime Time

I got a paragraph long notice about the incident on my phone with the jarring alert tone. I was watching a pvr'd episode of Corrie Street and the notice appeared discreetly in a small square box in the lower centre part of the screen. Pressing enter got rid of it.

It appears it's even worse than it seems - a Toronto police officer is one of the victims, and is reported to have died. This just upped the ante on this shooting and there are reports there may be a suspect in custody.
