I've never been a fan of Yankees play-by-play veteran John Sterling and if you were listening to Wednesday's Jays game via New York radio, you heard him do what he does best - completely botching another call. (It seems as he gets older - he's 83 - this happens more and more often.)
If you were watching the contest in the Bronx, you may remember the play - it almost tied the game. The problem? Sterling called it a home run even though it wasn't. You can hear the entire sequence here.

It's time to retire. This happened to Bob Cole many times who stayed around too long.

This!
God love the old time broadcasters....but lets be real...they all have their time...when these guys push things beyond their years based on their 'legendary' status it hurts the quality of the broadcast...almost as much as when the young inexperienced whipper snappers get started....like many of us it's hard to know when you put a stop to things and sometimes it's done for you...

Sadly, it's not the first time. He has a history of doing this, yet he remains very popular in New York.

I agree that his time has obviously come, but would you want to be the person to tell him it's time to retire?

To be fair he was calling that one off of a monitor and wasn't in the ballpark. The ones he blows while sitting in the stadium are far worse.

Whoops, he did it again.
Another blown call by Yankees' play-by-play vet John Sterling, this time in Tuesday night's game, again against the Jays.
