Haven't heard new 93.7 country station in Georgina yet, but 100.1 in Listowel is on-air as The Ranch.

Something that used to be common but not so much now, the new station is affiliated with the local newspaper, The Listowel Banner. They are launching in about a day and are testing right now..

93.7 is listing only one personality so far. Dan Pollard:

I was able to listen to 100.1 Listowel in the car in Kitchener which is about 60 km away. Not close to 100% strength but it was listenable. Sounds like this is going to be another community station that is going to sound more or less like a regular commercial outlet. Programming wise it doesn't look like they have a lot of conditions on the license. The Five Amigos kept expectations real.

This station isn't community, it's a commercial licence. Five Amigos has a second station in Wallaceburg.

You are correct sir.. I was thinking it was a community station since it was in smaller town, but you are right it is a commercial operation. And they are sounding good. Thanks for pointing that out..

Glad they're sounding good. I can't stand country, so will pass on tuning in.... best of luck to the small kids on the block.

Country isn't my first choice for music either, but I do respect the fact that both 100.1 and Brantford's new Hot Country 93.9 stations both are featuring a lot of new and current artists and very upbeat which is nice to hear. Like also that new country stations have long adopted a top 40 contemporary sound for imaging and station breaks.

The headline makes it seem that way.

The article is incorrect in the way it uses the word "community". The CRTC decision 2019-118...
English-language FM radio station in Listowel The Commission approves an application by Five Amigos Broadcasting Inc. for a broadcasting licence to operate an English-language commercial FM radio station in Listowel, Ontario. The station will serve the municipality of North Perth. It will be the first local commercial radio service in North Perth.

Slogan / branding change in same general region, 94.5 CIBU Wingham seems to still be classic rock but slogan is "(the new) Cool 94.5" (RDS also says Cool 94.5) ...
