American Top 40 Turns 50 On Saturday

Not really a big deal, I suppose, but few syndicated radio shows have ever had such longevity. According to the linked article below, most radio people thought it would be a disaster and when it debuted, it was only on seven stations.

KDEO [now KECR] in El Cajon, Ca. was the first station to offically air AT40 on Friday July 3, 1970.

Used to listen to it on WGRQ and later WPHD. Enjoyed hearing the background on the artists and the Billboard chart trivia that Casey provided.
