Re: Been Losing Buffalo Stations OTA? This Could Be Why

I found this on another forum; though expensive it may do the trick to allow you to receive stations form this side of the border:

Re: Been Losing Buffalo Stations OTA? This Could Be Why

It's official.  WKBW has completed its tower work, replaced the antenna and boosted power.   Signal much better than WIVB in mid-town.   In the words of legendary Irv Weinstein:  It's 11 o'clock.  Do you know where your children are?

Watching Channel 7 Eyewitness News!

Newly posted video of tower crew replacing channel 16 and 32 antennae for WUTV and WNYO on Grand Island, NY..

It is reported that they have not switched WUTV over to this tower yet.

You should see an improvement on WUTV.  The antenna will be around 90 feet higher on their own tower on grand island.

Re: Been Losing Buffalo Stations OTA? This Could Be Why

I only wish the same could be true for WIVB and WNLO. They've become completely hit and miss where I am. Mostly miss.

Surprisingly, since the repack, I've also had issues with Global pixelating and breaking up at times. You'd think a local Toronto station coming from the CN Tower would be perfect. Not anymore. Fortunately, not a channel I watch a lot, but I'd still prefer to be able to get it properly.

Even though their antenna is 90 ft higher, will WUTV  continue to beam their signal totally south as they have been doing for some time?

Re: Been Losing Buffalo Stations OTA? This Could Be Why

Mace: WUTV on its Whitehaven Rd. Tower will have a non-directional pattern.
However, the temporary installation on the WNED tower, is also non-directional.  They don't (currently) beam south.

It will gain around 2 miles further into Canada

TV Guy: I got my information from a GTA channel listing site on remotecentral.com. Upon closer inspection, that channel listing site hasn't been updated since November 2016. However, there are a number of forums that are still very much active that may be of interest to SOWNY members. "Sticky Toronto/Buffalo HDTV Reception" since 2004, "Sticky East Ontario/West Quebec HDTV Reception" [2008]  "OTA Channel Changes Southern Ontario/Surrounding States" [2012] "Toronto/Buffalo OTA Programming Updates" [2015]
