Study shows women are getting left behind in the Film and T.V. biz...

A report out this week, shows that women are still not privy to the job opportunities as compared to men, within our National Film and T.V. industry.

Here is a link to the article...

https://www.cbc.ca/radio/q/blog/women-still-getting-left-behind-in-canadian-film-and-tv-biz-study-1.5137811

For our long weekend discussion, what do you think? Is this article accurate?

What needs to happen in the industry to have more equitable opportunity? What do women need to do to position themselves a little more efficiently to get a chance to shift the needle in their direction?

Or is the fact that women are getting left behind a result of not as many of them opting for careers in the industry itself?

Chime away...and please enjoy the weekend!

The world would be so good if it weren't for some people...

Why am I not surprised that this is a CBC story. Perhaps there are not enough 'Visible Minority" women qualified for or interested in these positions. To the majority of television viewers and movie goers, all they care about is were they entertained? Did they get their $15 worth? Was that hour spent watching a show worthwhile or could that hour have been spent doing something more productive. They do not care who wrote, produced, directed, was the head of lighting, or wardrobe. Bottom Line: Just entertain me.

It makes good business sense to hire lots of (single; unlikely to have kids) females - they can get paid less!
