Another Former CHUM Jock Is Gone

In other markets, he went by the name "Johnny Dark." But on CHUM, he was Dude Walker. Neither was his real name - that was actually John Dougherty - but he passed away earlier this week four days after suffering a stroke following heart surgery.

I don't think he was in Toronto very long - mostly in 1974, but according to the linked article, he had quite an amazing career in both radio and TV, including introducing the Beatles in Memphis and having a close relationship with the legendary Sam Phillips and his family.

Dude Walker was 75.

Johnny Dark, aka Dude Walker, the Memphis deejay and TV broadcaster who introduced the Beatles, has died

Re: Another Former CHUM Jock Is Gone

With a little CHUM Chart research, Dude Walker was definitely gone from CHUM by Jan 1975.
