Surround Sound Radio

ok so I have been on an AM stereo kick of late probably due to some guilt that I did not pay attention to it when it was alive and I had the equipment to listen and did listen but I was more of an FM fan.and took it somewhat for granted.

Anyway I was looking around the internet and found this clip where the station 1630 KCJJ in Coralville, IA  does a
test in AM Quad and if you have a surround sound receiver you will hear the playback in quad. I tried it and it works but you have to use the correct settings. The right front channel is weak but otherwise it is a discreet multi-channel mix. They play tracks by Chicago, Lighthouse and Walter Murphy. The announcer does not like Lighthouse.

AM Quad on KCJJ 1630

Re: Surround Sound Radio

Not 630 but 1630 ... that's in the expanded band (1610-1700). Actually fairly easy to hear at night given the only real competition on 1630 is in Georgia. Not a bad mostly music station.

Copy and paste error which I have corrected.

Yes I heard it in the car a few months ago but they no longer broadcast in stereo and sadly no more quad tests but if you have a surround sound system  hooked up to your computer and want to hear what AM quad sounds like, the clip is worth a listen.
