Let me explain myself

Hello.
I'm not in the industry, I'm a radio fan and dxer but without the fancy equiptment youguys have.
I'm a jaws screan-reader user.
If some of my comments sound dumb, I'm not very good at getting my words down in writing, I'm better at speaking.

Re: Let me explain myself

I understand your spelling issues. I'm sure navigating the web with a screen reader these days is difficult.

What I think I'd remind you is that this is a forum for and about broadcasting. We all have our political views. Most of us understand that we don't need to share them on every post we make.

The issue isn't your being blind or requiring technology to help you post, or frankly even your spelling and grammar. I presume you're trying to manage. Rather, it's posts like the ones from today where you note your observations about the number of Jewish people on Toronto's talk stations. That actually comes across as weird, especially given ongoing anti-semitic (really Anti-Jewish, because Jews aren't the only Semites, but I digress) tropes about Jews controlling the media and Hollywood (as well as banking, etc). And given the war going on in and around Israel, and impacts that conflict's escalation is having around the world and even here in Canada with attacks on people of Jewish and Arab descent and their places of worship.

I don't know you personally, so I don't know where your comments along racial and religious lines are coming from, but this board really isn't the place for those kinds or topics. Nor is this board a place to discuss conservatism versus liberalism, or left versus right, except in the fairly clear context of how these might play out in broadcasting. I think there is actually ample room here for intelligent discussion about talk radio and it's various foibles and trends and insider gossip and so forth. But the point is no one cares (or should care) whether any of us is a socialist, liberal or conservative, or Jewish or Palestinian, or however any one of us might self-identify. We don't care about your opinion, or my opinion, about immigration or the direction politics is taking. Comments need to clearly centre around broadcasting. It's a fine but fairly clear and obvious line.

This is a board about radio in a fairly narrow geographical context, but obviously we extend to other media genres and think globally because this is the 21st Century. Most of us have at least some experience working in media. There are also a lot of SOWNYites who have that silly hobby where they sit in front of a radio and wait for IDs. And there are people who have never worked in media, have no interest in tabulating what stations they've heard, but are passionate about the medium. You probably fit in two of these categories. I fit in all three but my radio on-air and in-studio experience is severely limited compared with some of the more active people on this board. A few people on this board have considerable and longstanding experience in working with different music or spoken word formats, and frankly this board works best when we hear that kind of insight rather than whether you or I happen to prefer old country to new country, or comment without any obvious research or evidence that Toronto needs a station that has more or less Punjabi for a particular age group in Mississauga versus Brampton. Frankly I'm amazed that anyone in the new AM 820 target market would listen to AM radio at all, but broad categorized generalities do nothing to advance any understanding of what the story is there.

One approach might be to listen and/or read more, and comment sparingly but meaningfully when the timing and content are right.

Originally the 4 Seasons but they may not have released it as a single.

Edit - it was the B side of Rag Doll.

I'm in both 2 and 3.
I've worked with my cousin hosting in internet radio, which is different from AM/FM radio.
I love listening to station ids, even in different languages.
And, I love listening to how different countries do adds.
There's a lot of languages and countries who say a few versions of this word for addvertizment, Reklam/Reklama if I'm spelling that right.
I have a lot of pasion for radio and I want more music variety.

Re: Let me explain myself

Let me say the quiet part out loud, and this is a message to the moderator more than anyone else. Clearly there’s a cognitive issue at play here. If you’re comfortable continuing this, whatever the unintended consequences, be our guest. But ultimately, the power is yours to stop it.

My race-related comments are not about the race, there about the values of the ethnicities.
And my comments about jews on 1010 were not in the relm of jews controle the media, infact, I used to think the oposit, anglo-canadians controled the media and banking and jews were marjinalised and the media was anti-jew and jews were only in it because of hard work.
Why I said 1010 used to have more jewish staff is more out of observations and where I was comming from was that 1010 was more welcoming back in the 2000s and 2010s to jewish hosts than 640.
Admitedly, I did'nt listen to 640 much back then, so I don't have a leg to stand on.
Thank's for actualy giving helpfull advice and insite and listening.
I realy apreciate both you and RA.
