CTV Releases Details Of Grey Cup & Halftime Show
I know I'm not in the demo, but I admit I've never heard of Riley Green. He must be good, though - he's been chosen to perform at the halftime show at this year's Grey Cup. He's a country singer (which is probably why I don't know the name) and isn't actually Canadian.
He comes from Jacksonville, Alabama, and along with a number of hits, was named Best Male Country Artist at this year's American Music Awards. He's also going to be a judge on the 2026 version of The Voice.
But there will be some Canadian Content at this year's CFL Championship game. Sarah McLachlan will belt out the national anthem, as The Snowbirds make one last fly past of the stadium. And Blue Rodeo's Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor will also perform in a pre-game show.
This year's final will be played in Calgary on November 15th.

Interesting that Riley Green is performing at the Bud Light Grey Cup Halftime Show, seeing as he was part of the protest, with the likes of Kid Rock, against Bud Light being pro LGBTQ in 2023, not that long ago. I wonder if this was even a consideration by the event’s organizers. I also think a Canadian artist would have been more appropriate, considering the current state of affairs.

I agree that a Canadian country artist would have been more appropriate for the half time show in Calgary this year. The Bud Light controversy was only in the US. AM Bev the owners of Labatt have different advertising campaigns in Canada for Bud Light and never ran the ads that caused the strong reaction south of the border. So I guess since it had nothing to do with Bud Light here and the boycott of the beer in the US probably had little or no impact on Canadian sales they didn't think anything of it.

Like RA I have never heard of this artist because I am not a fan of Country Music. As for the actual halftime show? Zero interest. The actual game is all I care about. No desire to waste my time watching the pregame/anthem BS. I try to time it as close as possible to the coin toss. I do the same with the Super Bowl.
