A Very Long Day Ahead For The Fan590's Blair & Barker
It's bad enough that the Blue Jays are circling the drain. It's far worse if you have to work overtime to watch it happen.
The Jays were rained out on Tuesday, and will have to play a doubleheader to make up for it on Wednesday. One loss and they're out. And for the Fan's Jeff Blair & Kevin Barker, it could be a very long day.
The duo was already chewing up vast amounts of airtime yesterday when the game was cancelled, making up for about a 3-hour unscheduled gap that should have been filled with play-by-play. They've promised to be back for a pre-game for Game 1 at 1:30 PM, return for a post game show when it ends, then do it all over again for the 6:30 PM second match. Now THAT is a very long time to be on air.
And it will seem even longer if the Jays are ultimately eliminated.

Time to put a fork in this season. They made it interesting for a few weeks, but in the end what does it really matter. Rogers will find a way to increase their profits somehow.

I didn’t know the game had been rained out last night and tuned into 590 while cleaning up after dinner. It took me a minute to realise that they weren’t covering the game. This was fairly early on and it sounded like they were already struggling to fill time! Not sure if they went for the full three hours but I felt for them!

So for the Jays to snag the last WC spot, they must win their final five games and the White Sox have to lose their final five games. Considering the Sox final games are against KC [67-90] and Colorado [57-100] this is highly unlikely. Also the Sox are only one game behind Cleveland for the Central Division lead plus they hold the tiebreaker.

I kind of feel bad for the two Shulmans and the rest of the broadcast crew, who have to cover the remaining games that are now absolutely meaningless.
Four pointless games left (including the second one of the doubleheader.) Do you think they might win even one of them? Not that it will matter.

I watched the first game yesterday it felt bad from the get go. When the Jays lost, I thought what a waste of a season. It must be a Toronto thing as our teams can only get so far it seems. I didn’t watch the second game and the crap part here is that I have tickets for Sunday’s game!
