A new contest that is not good for people who are too heavily into alcohol.
Randomly turn on CFRB at any time of the day. If you hear a commercial or anything that's not programming, take a drink.
Guaranteed you'll be drunk within the hour.
I say this because nearly every single time I tune into 1010 - completely at random - they have a spot on or some non-programming feature like a promo, a traffic report or a newscast. I'm talking about one of their actual shows and not the endless clutter that appears to be the station's stock in trade.
I simply cannot believe the sheer number of times I've come across NT1010 and find them playing a commercial. It happens so often, it's no longer a statistical anomaly in my mind, but a certainty. Have we finally reached the point where there are more ads on the outlet than real shows?
It's simply amazing how often it happens - in my case a good 85-90% of the time - and it can no longer be a coincidence. Maybe if they found another way to present it, it would be different. But as it stands now, this is the very definition of a "commercial" radio station!

I thought this thread might be about the time Stafford and Ron Base, with Jimmy C. and me in the control room, decided to do an hour one afternoon, inviting a portable breath tester manufacturer in on 'do alcohol testing meters really work.' We were all trashed by the end of the hour. It was absolute fucking gold.
Although now I think about that hour again, we were all just drinking apple juice and pretending.

You can compound your drinking problem by downing a shot for every PR muffin they have on-air in between commercial breaks.

This conversation reminds me of the WKRP drinking contest where the more Johnny Fever drank, the more sober he became. The no nonsense cop who was operating the breathalyser was definitely not pleased.
