"Here they come, walking down the street..."

If you were around in the mid-60s, this was a ground breaking TV show, one that arguably paved the way for music videos, MTV and MuchMusic. But it hasn't really been seen anywhere for years. 

Until August 15th of this year, that is, when the shortlived but impactful series "The Monkees" comes to streaming - and you can watch it free. Tubi TV is bringing the so-called pre-Fab Four back to computer and TV screens again, after the pioneering comedy/music hybrid had been off the air for years. (There is a U.S. subcarrier that has it, but Catchy Comedy is not readily available by antenna in the GTA.) 

The show, obviously based on the popularity of the Beatles, boasted four fresh faces with decent voices, who could turn their weekly TV exposure into huge hit records and did so for several years, thanks to excellent production and some of music's best songwriters. And as a bonus, it was pretty funny for its time. 

Tubi begins showing the classic 57 (the number of episodes that were made) on its free streaming service beginning August 15th. Hopefully, that includes the rights in Canada, although a VPN will fix the problem.
