CKOT FM Tillsonburg

It has been nearly a year since CKOT 101.3 switched to a classic rock format and called itself Giant FM. It was previously called as Easy 1013 and supposedly played easy listening.

Does anyone have any idea how it is doing in terms of a listening audience?

Good question but I don't think we'll get the answer anytime soon

As far as I know (happy to be corrected) the station does not subscribe to Numeris and therefore is not included in any fashion in their market results.

They've lost me from their audience.

CKOT is still included in London radio ratings. Their sister station CJDL is not.

From what I know, CKOT has made slight gains since the flip VS when it was EASY 101.3 but still near the bottom of the pack.

Re: CKOT FM Tillsonburg

I have Giant FM pre selected in my car.  The signal is loud and clear in KW.  Never listened to them much prior to the change, so I can't comment on their easy listening or A/C format.  They play a much wider selection of music than Q107.  I wonder if their ad revenues have picked up at all since the format change.

They've lost me when rogers bot them and flipped them to AC from a pure soft AC format.
Lite 92 has also lost me.

Re: CKOT FM Tillsonburg

CKOT was one of the last "Beautiful" Music format stations in Southern Ontario.

There's no soft and easy station anywhere now. That's too bad.

Re: CKOT FM Tillsonburg

A25-54 in London they moved from #9 to #7.  The only 2 stations to show growth were FRESH and GIANT.   GIANT had the biggest growth.   Basically tied with Classic Rock 98.1.  The real story will be the next book when all the data is from the GIANT era.   From listening - their commercials are from all over SW Ontario.   100% they don't care about losing the soft rock crowd who were never committed anyway.

Maybe we need this!

Re: CKOT FM Tillsonburg

Do they have any live announcers?

Re: CKOT FM Tillsonburg

Gave Giant FM a listen today for the first time since it flipped. The music is good, but the news at 4:00 today was clearly prerecorded. The Brazil-Japan World Cup game was mentioned as happening today, but no mention of the fact Brazil had already won the game.

And then the telltale evidence of being prerecorded - weather report didn’t mention the current conditions, only a forecast.

The point of radio to me includes up-to-the-minute information. Especially while I’m driving.

If they do I haven't heard them. The music mix is great but without announcers it's rather bland like a juke box.

I agree there are a lot of local commercials and Tillsonburg centric events promoted but as MJ Vancouver noted, the news is pre-recorded by freelancers who have home studios like Lisa Brandt.

Same with CKOC.
Its ran like a jukebox, the only thing local is the adds and CHCH news.
Neeti should have just bot CHAM and let whiteoaks or blackbern own and opperate CKOC and CKWW, they would both do a better job.
Whiteoaks is putting a lot of efert into there new stations.

I doubt Whiteoaks would want AM music stations (considering they just made their Oakville AM's online only) and Blackburn definitely wouldn't considering they've been flipping their AM's to FM's.
