They'll be starting on the CHUM-FM morning show when she leaves in late June.
Nat Hunter & Josie Dye to succeed Marilyn Denis on CHUM 104.5 mornings

This story was under wraps, with this one running in Vancouver media on Wednesday. The old "wants to be with family" excuse was trotted out for Nat Hunter. Is that ever really true?

Yes. In this case yes.

The Toronto Star story on the change contains one very big error.
"Dye has appeared on the afternoon show on CHUM FM for more than 25 years."
That's impossible. She only joined the station on Jan. 15, 2024. Which means she's been there just over two years.

I was amused that an excuse Caroline Mulroney gave for resigning is her kids have now left home (so she can spend more time at home without having to spend time with family?)

Strange pairing... I don't see them dethroning CHFI

CHFI mornings have under-performed the station by a wide margin for years now, due to a large audience that listen to Mailyn in the morning and 'FI the rest of the day. Will be interesting to see how many stick with 104.5 in the morning or go to 'FI or elsewhere.
The real show to dethrone is on 92.5

I have to wonder if Marilyn Denis is the last of her kind. Four decades on the air with the same station.
Those numbers are pretty rare given the current state of radio.
There's Wally Crouter, Roger Ashby and maybe Jay Nelson for one-station longevity in this market.
As the medium's listenership numbers fade, so do the chances anyone will be able to remain on-air in one place for that long.

I get your point, but disagree in that as a strategy. Nobody, especially these two ladies, are going to pull Roz and Mocha listeners away to chum; they're now the heritage show with dedicated long-time listeners. Marilyn's "large audience" is gone, the only dedicated tuners are 55+, it's clear in the ratings...... for over a year she's been shooting par, or underperforming the station around #5 tied with chfi. Josie's afternoon show has been veryyyy poor (7th place if memory serves), very questionable promotion...
they should consider going AC and taking a bite of the all-Christmas hoopla. 92.5 has invaded chum territory, so chum should invade chfi's, and indie invade chum's
