There are no local teams (as Leaf fans all too sadly know) but the Stanley Cup Finals are inarguably one of the biggest sports events in all of Canada. Will the games air anywhere on local radio here?
The Fan590 would be the obvious choice, but their commitment is to the Jays every night. And it's not likely they'd interrupt 680 News for a game involving out-of-town teams.
Then there's TSN1050, but would they even be allowed the games, given arch-rival Sportsnet controls the rights? And the finals are likely to be smack dab in the middle of World Cup Soccer, which I imagine would get priority, since Bell controls those broadcast rights.
I can't quite remember what happened last year, but 2026 features a host of unique challenges that make this one very different.
Still, you'd think the end of the race for the Stanley Cup would be big enough to earn a spot on the local radio dial. The question is where?

I don’t think that any of the local Toronto radio stations will be carrying the Stanley Cup this season as hockey has pretty much been dropped broadcast wise since we have no skin in the game, and might not for the foreseeable future the way things are looking! Which is odd as last night, 590 had the Jays game and 1050 had a US talk show I believe when I tuned in for a few minutes during the Habs game.

If the Habs make it to the Final [hopefully not] TSN690 would likely carry the games. Carolina: 99.9 WCMC The Fan. Vegas: 94.7 KKGK. Colorado: 850/94.1 KOA. Realistically, I think streaming is the only radio option for GTA listeners.

The NHL app provides live streams of both the home and away team’s radio broadcasts for every game. Its been interesting to listen to the different play by play announcers.

Rogers only controls the TV rights, not the radio rights. A broadcast will be available for 1050 should they want it.

In Ottawa, TSN1200 has been carrying all games in the division finals, with the exception of local sports conflicts. I thought they would join the Habs network for their games. TSN690 gets into Ottawa, but the signal is fair to poor. TSN1200 carries all games via the Sports USA network.

That's interesting. Does 690 have a null towards Ottawa?
