Yes, but if he had a baseball handy, he could have thrown at him.
 

Apparently, there's a lot more to this incident than was originally reported. Joseph was on the Fan during a rain delay in the Jays-Yankees game Wednesday, and told, as Paul Harvey might say, "The Rest Of The Story." 

Apparently whoever stole the bag had a 10-minute head start on Joseph, before he even knew it was missing.  When he discovered it, at first he thought it was one of his crew people playing around on him. The bag not only contained his passport but also the iPad where he kept all his game research. So he would really have missed it if it wasn't there. It was only about 40 minues to game time and the broadcast.

When he discovered it was gone, he went to the security staff to see who might have taken it. Cameras showed a guy nobody recognized pilfering the bag and taking off. They managed to trace him on cameras on the street and the crew took off up Bloor St. W, with Joseph not far behind. 

But then one of the camera guys in hot pursuit told him the culprit had been spotted on Bloor St. E., and Joseph headed that way. They finally caught up to the thief, still unsure how he got into the building. 

Joseph regained his bag but not necessarily his composure. It was at least 30 degrees out and he apologized to viewers who saw him sweating profusely on air, mentioning his "pit stains" on camera, which went unexplained until the story came out. 

Luckily, this story had a happy ending and didn't go into extra innings.
