As if there wasn't enough football on TV every week of the NFL season, now it's gone into overdrive. Fox has confirmed the league's first ever pro football triple header with three games packed into one network on a Sunday this fall.
A game being played in Munich, Germany will be shown in North America in the morning, followed by two more traditional afternoon games. Not only that, but NBC holds the rights to Sunday night games, so the overseas game, featuring the Detroit Lions, (opponents are TBA) which is scheduled for Nov. 15th, means there will likely be four NFL games on network TV in the same day. And doesn't CBS also have access to Sunday games? Frankly I've lost track.
No word yet on how CTV will handle all this. But football widows will not be happy! And you can only imagine the hangovers the next day.
The full NFL sked will be released on Thursday.

Here's a question that Fox might not have considered. What happens if any of these games go into overtime or are even slightly delayed for some reason? Will the others still start on time? If not, what time do the ones that follow begin?
This could be a real mess for CTV and Fox if anything unexpected happens.

Between CTV, CTV2 and TSN 1,2,3,4,5 they shouldn't have any issues.

Hadn't really thought of that, but my God, how much football is too much football? At this rate, they may need to punt some of it over to CP24!

If I remember correctly, CBS shows the AFC games on Sunday afternoons, and FOX the NFC games.

As a non-fan who gets continually annoyed by endless NFL overurns, they're all just more football to me.

The Munich game will kickoff at 9:30AM and will be done around 12:30ish. Since FOX is airing two more games back to back, that means it is doubleheader week for the network. That also means the CBS primary game is 1pm only. That means 60 Minutes will start on time at 7pm.

Good to know. But it's not 60 Minutes that's the issue. I usually don't even watch it. It's the primetime shows that are on later and you miss the ending on your DVR because the thing starts at some ungodly time like 8:48 PM.
Yes, I leave extra time, but it's still no guarantee you'll get it all. Very irritating, but I'm well aware that the network makes far more on NFL spots than on any primetime series. So it's never going to change.
The proof of this is that CBS' 2026 fall schedule now slots drama reruns at 10 PM, something they've never done in their history, because that's one of the highest Homes Using Television nights in the entire week. So these endless interruptions are here to stay (at least until streaming gets hold of every NFL game, forcing you to pay for them.)

They’ll also use TSN+ - last year they had at least one “streaming only” game per week.

Not the 100% iron clad rule as it was in the past - with networks being able to flex games to different times/days - they now work on balancing the schedule so both networks have “roughly” the same number of games to show each Sunday. Emphasis on “roughly”.

And tonight the 2026 NFL Schedule gets released at 8pm and yes there will be a pre-Thanksgiving game on Wednesday night this year.
