How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

Normally, with about a week to go until MLB spring training games start, this would be an easy question to answer. It's clear after last year's oh-so-close World Series and some off season moves that interest in the Jays is very high.

Yet I'm finding it almost impossible to locate a credible list of which pre-season games will be on either Sportsnet TV or the Fan 590. Considering the Grapefruit League contests start next Saturday (vs. the Phillies) , you'd think they would have published an accurate schedule somewhere. But I can't find one.

Is this an oversight by Rogers or have they really not decided yet which games will be on TV or radio, an idea I find very unlikely with less than a week to go.

If anyone has an actual list, please post it.

Speaking of weirdness, check this out. It's an article from Broadcaster Magazine, that supposedly lists the televised games in question.

But there are really big problems with this page.

For one thing, it states that Feb. 23rd this year is a Saturday. But it's actually a Monday.

For another, the publication date is listed as Feb. 21, 2026. Which is amazing, considering today, as this is posted, it's only the 16th of the month.

So I certainly would not trust the info it lists.

Re: How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

Why would a corporation want to tell the public when they can watch or listen to a game?  And when broadcasting these games would create interest in the product?
Corporate incompetence?

162 regular season games is more than enough. Spring training is way too long.

Check the date.  This is from 2020.

Re: How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

Considering the first game is this coming Saturday, I find it odd that Sportsnet has not bothered to put up a schedule on which games are being shown on TV. Surely they must know. But yet I can't seem to find one anywhere.

According to TV listings from Tribute.ca, the first game vs. the Phillies is, in fact, going to air at 1 PM this Saturday afternoon. The Red Sox game comes on at the same time Sunday, with the Mets on Monday and the Yankees on Tuesday. So you can watch these early spring games if you want to see how the team looks this year in the early going.

But why there's no actual list from the network itself is beyond me.

Re: How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

I've seen promos on Sportsnet for the Saturday and Sunday games. Expect the Sunday game to be a Red Sox feed from NESN since it's a road game for the Jays.

If what they've done in recent years holds true this year, Sportsnet will televise all the Jays' spring training home games, and will televise road games if the host team has a telecast of that particular game.

Like pre-season NFL and NHL games, I have zero interest in Grapefruit League baseball. When the actual season begins, I will tune in.

Re: How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

Just three days before spring training games begin, Sportsnet has finally published a list of which ones they're showing and what time they start. As has been noted here, it appears they plan to cover every match, but here's the official schedule.

Re: How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

Sportsnet is doing an excellent job of the first spring training game for the Jays.  More laid back than the usual broadcasts with Ben Shulman, Madison Shipman and Hazel Mae on air.  NBC Sports Philadelphia has picked up the Sportsnet coverage so Phillies fans can watch the game. Shulman welcomed the viewers from Philadelphia to the broadcast.  Really enjoy all of the interviews with the Jays during the game.  Beautiful day in Dunedin Florida, all sun and 78F.  Top of the 7th Jays are leading..

Re: How Many Spring Training Games Will Jays Fans See On Sportsnet?

The TV version was simulcast on The Fan 590. The only real problem was they never got a smooth rejoin from Sportsnet to the radio feed, always cutting off the announcer when they came back from break. Generally, it was Ben Shulman in mid-sentence, and you never got to hear the beginning of it.

Other than that, it was fine. But they need to find a way to stop that from happening, because it occurred every half inning, which meant it went on air like that at least 18 times during the approx. three hour game.

Another thing; where is Pete Walker?
