There was a time that CFRB was simply unbeatable in Toronto. Only CHUM came close, but I don't think they ever beat 1010. One of the reasons was the personalities that broadcast out of those studios at Yonge & St. Clair - including this guy, showcased in an ad for the station.
It's quite incredible if you consider there are no sports people left at any of the big Toronto talkers or on most of the city's TV channels.
This is from - with apologies to the Four Seasons - late December 1963. 
Stephenson retired after a stroke in 2001, and passed away in July 2014. You have to wonder what he would think of the present day 1010.

He arrived at CFRB in 1960, at the age of 31.
