From Facebook, news that long-time jock Harv Moore has died.

Harv Moore and Robert Taylor were a very popular team in mornings at WPHD-FM years ago.

Re: Harv Moore RIP

Sad to hear this. I used to listen to him when what was then called Y-103 (WYSL-FM) came in here like a local.

Re: Harv Moore RIP

This is so "Fa-King" sad to hear. I listened to the Taylor and Moore show every weekday on WPHD  while driving to work. I still remember their bits on the Land of Fa, El Grosso, Dr. Mel Practice "Expert  Gynacologist at your cervix" and of course Bea, owner of the Cassa Da Pizza Italian restaurant who would always advize them of the daily lunch specials during their show. I suspect the duo ate there often. These guys often pushed the line but never crossed it.

Re: Harv Moore RIP

The Buffalo News official obit reminds that it was Moore who introduced The Beatles on stage in Washington, and had a hand in at least one huge hit, pumping up a record he thought would be a smash - a song no one else was playing.

The year was 1972 and the tune was "Brandy" by The Looking Glass.

"Mr. Moore was at WPGC at the time, and a promoter for Epic stopped by the WPGC studios with a test pressing of the Brandy single. “I listened to it and said, ‘Wow, this is a smash. A home run,' ” Mr. Moore recalled.

Mr. Moore started playing it once an hour on his show, and then the station, and then all of Washington loved the song – and it was bound for number one on the Billboard charts."

The days of a DJ being able to do that are mostly long gone. And now, sadly, so is Humble Harv.

Harv Moore, 90, Buffalo radio legend helped introduce the Beatles to America

Wow! That is quiye an impressive list of Buffalo dj's that Harv Moore hired over the years. At one time or another, I have listened to almost all of them.
