I stumbled across this site while searching for something else. movie-theatre.org claims to have the history of every movie theatre in North America. The site is divided into state/province, then subdivided into city/region. Judging by the Toronto category it is quite detailed including opening/closing dates, seating capacity and whether the building was demolished. Sadly, in most cases it was. Once the city theatres have been examined [in alphabetical order] the site expands to the buroughs and beyond. [Mississagua, Oakville, Brampton, Milton, etc] Some nice photos too. I haven't checked any of the other provinces because I grew up in the GTA and am familiar with many of the movie houses listed. Enjoy.
