I love the fact Radio World, which is usually concerned with broadcasters, now has a regular column on DXing.
In the latest one, the author deals with a range of topics, including the difference between E-skip and tropo and what it means for your long distance listening when either occurs.
When Weather Bends FM Signals

Strong Tropo of a kind described in the article occurring now. Received WDET Detroit at 102.9. Chatham/Kent station at 94.3. Ottawa at 100.3. WYRK at !06.5 turned into a strong signal for K-Rock Syracuse with a turn of the antenna. Not sure how long it will last but DX'ers should give it a shot.

After I sent the above msg I had to leave and now it looks like the tropo is gone. Will digitize what I recorded earlier as some of it was interesting but an indication of radio's growing irrelevance was the number of religious stations that were on almost all non local frequencies with their dull music and talk. I did not ID those as I could not stand to listen,

Nothing crazy reported last night or early this morning. But 106.7 WBDR Copenhagen NY 'The Border' in the Kingston market was strong at 1 pm today while driving in the Bloor-Jarvis area and northwards.

Just a few minutes ago I received a WECK translator at 100.1. Since 99.1 went HD that is a dead frequency, like 104.3, 92.3 and 92.7 but 101,1 is the worst of the three - all are mostly dead zones made worse by HD.
Only lasted a few seconds but I confirmed by checking their playlist online. I heard I Dig Rock; and Roll Music and knew that had to be the station. Good to know that that Buddy is not averse to playing radical folkies.
