I know the Rochester market is a bit out of SOWNY's boundaries, but some here may have heard of - or even heard - a disc jockey/host named Brother Wease. He's been on the air there for around four decades and picked Thursday to announce it was his final broadcast.
He's been on various radio stations, including WCMF-FM and most recently WAIO. His explanation for his sudden and very unexpected departure, without even finishing the week? Management plans to replace his morning show with one that stresses more rock music, and he was known for his talk talent.
It's unclear where the Radio Hall of Fame inductee might turn up next, and as you can imagine this is a huge story in Rochester.

Took me a while to warm up to him but I ended up liking Brother Wease a lot.

I heard him a few times on WCMF when the tropo gods were smiling. 95.1 needs a belly laugh from the tropo gods to be heard in the GTA with 94. 9 and 95.3 as neighbours.

I remember Wease when he worked at Kiss 98.5 Buffalo (WKSE) on the morning show.

Wease was never on Kiss. His Rochester morning show was simulcast at one point on WBUF.
