And yes, ICI Peterborough may have to move and Corus would have to give the thumbs up with CIMJ Guelph and Q107. As well Rogers, for their Country 106.7 station in Waterloo. Cooperation is obviously needed with 3 different parties here.
Unless Rogers & Corus are the benefactors of said proposal, they seek to gain nothing by allowing another competitor in the market. Also you forgot about CFMS-FM on 105.9. Getting 4 broadcasters to agree to that would be very unlikely.

a low powered Toronto station isn't going to cause any interference to them.
It also will not obtain any meaningful listenership or revenue...... a commercial station needs to reach Toronto, Peel & York to be successful. Even if you could shack up next to a powerful signal on their 2nd adj, you would still need to be a small factor of their power.

I'm just suggesting that perhaps it's time for the powers that be to take another look at these protections.
I agree

Thanks! I see I also have it in my Toronto logbook. No doubt from my mobile sites near Hwy 9 and Dufferin. On an open channel these things can get out.

There was speculation that CFMS may go dark a little while back. Not sure if they are still in financial jeopardy. IMHO, if the CRTC did move forward with such a plan, it would be a smart move for CFMS to apply for one of the two new channels and get themselves out of that constrained east-west signal pattern needed for 105.9. Of course, going GTA-wide would require $$$ in upgrades and no doubt would receive howls of protest from other ethnic broadcasters. A broadcaster ploy though that I think will become less relevant at CRTC hearings as streaming begins overtaking conventional broadcast. In terms of antenna siting, I wonder if the new, 85 story, One Bloor West condo might rent their rooftop and give FCP some competition. I think it is the same height (300m). Also coming down the pipe is the new Sky Tower on Front with 95 stories.
