Will 640's Greg Brady Be Coherent On His Morning Show After This?

The host of "Toronto Today" on AM640 has made no secret of his love of the band Oasis, which is staging two reunion shows at the new Rogers Stadium in Downsview Park.

On his program Friday, Brady said he was incredibly excited to see the show and talked about how tough it would be to get home after it ends, and still make it in for his shift in time. He would need to escape the stadium - no easy feat given how far it is from regular transit - get all the way back to his home in Ajax, then get up again in the middle of the night and head all the way down to Corus Quay for about 4 AM to get ready for his 5:30 in the morning shift.

Obviously, unless he has a jet pack, that's not going to work out very well. So he mentioned that he might - stress might - just head from the venue straight to work downtown and do the AM drive shift with little to no sleep. That should make it even more interesting to hear him do a busy morning show without any rest.

If that's the route he takes, I hope he makes it. But it's going to be a challenge running on adrenaline all because he was out late the night before and couldn't get home in time to sleep. I'll be listening to his show to see how he does. And let's just hope his Oasis doesn't turn into a mirage!

The adrenaline will be pumpin'!
Handle it like a pro. Do the requisite planning and prep beforehand. Have lots of water and other necessities of life within easy reach. Consider what can go wrong and how you'll handle situations. Could make for great radio.
It's not heart surgery he's doing. No one's going to die. Full tilt boogie and enjoy the ride!
With my own work, writing, and when I had a spoken word interview show on CIUT back in the late 1990s, some of my best happened when I was sick with a bad cold, or sleep deprived, or whatever of the sort. It makes you focus.

According to my social media feed, there will be a few compromised morning snows tomorrow.

I listened to the opening of the show at 5:30AM and it appears he came straight to work as he promised. Sounded fine, although his description of getting to and from the venue was pretty harrowing. Honestly, what a stupid place to put a huge stadium. And the rain in the middle of the show didn't help.

A normal person would've booked the day off - though I will applaud Mr. Brady for his dedication.

...and yet, Greg was wonderful as always. He is a special breed.

As a contrast, Ben Mulroney and Alex Pierson's producer, Mike Drolet, was also there - and he did book the day off.

Re: Will 640's Greg Brady Be Coherent On His Morning Show After This?

Not only did Greg Brady go to Sunday's concert, he admitted on Tuesday's show that he went on Monday night again, this time with his family. He told listeners he managed to get 3 1/2 hours sleep both nights and still came in to work. And he agreed he might not be as clear headed as he'd like because he hates getting up early in the morning.

Not the best admission for a guy who's on the air at 5:30 AM five days a week! But at least with Oasis gone, he can now go back to normal.

My son and his wife were at the Sunday concert, he told me it took 3 hours to get back to their car for the drive back to Peterborough. He also went to work Monday morning, and did his 9-5 shift.
