NFL players are not too in favour of playing on Christmas Day. Last year Christmas fell on Monday night, (Monday Night Football), so you can understand 1 or 2 games being televised. This year, the players were sharing their wanting the day with family.
Lamar Jackson, of the Baltimore Ravens, didn't reply when asked about playing yesterday, that silence, says it all...you can read more below...
Some of the NFL players voiced their feelings about playing yesterday, but so did LeBron James...saying Christmas is the NBA's day.
Another story line was why is the best team in the NFL (Kansas City) playing on 4 days rest yesterday, when they have clinched first place in their division? Many NFL pundits fee this is a dangerous proposition, where without proper rest, injuries can happen and that can affect how well a team plays come playoff time.
Lastly, all eyes were on Netflix after their last live streaming broadcast. The Jake Paul/Mike Tyson fight had numerous tech issues and fortunately, Netflix pulled it off.
Yahoo Sports chimes in on the Netflix games from yesterday
Sadly, the games were a bit of a bust, but Beyonce wasn't.
My concern is the NFLPA will probably want changes from the money hungry NFL...such as no more Christmas games (unless it is on a Sunday or Monday night) and longer times between games, for rest and injury prevention,

How many years before everything in sports is subscription based? I'm guessing The Super Bowl will be the last thing to go, but who knows? If they pay enough, it seems everything is up for grabs.
I remember when CTV used to show a few Jays games a week on broadcast TV. Those days are long gone. The playoffs are now mostly cable only. But the World Series is still on free OTA - for now.
Still, as Netflix shows it can be done and is willing to pay for the rights, you may be seeing less and less of these events without paying more and more.
How long until Rogers makes the Stanley Cup finals streaming or cable only? There would be an uproar in this country and I even suspect the government would try and intervene should that ever happen. But the only thing Big Red cares about is big green. So I would not put it past them to try it one day.

So LeBron thinks Christmas Day should belong to the NBA. Well maybe if the basketball numbers were in the same ballpark as the two NFL games. [24M] The highest rated of the five NBA games was the primetime Lakers/Warriors match on ABC/ESPN reached 7.76M viewers.
