Tis the season and it starts on January 5th

The Golden Globes are airing on January 6th, it is the start of the award shows...and it runs from January through to March or early April.

You have the Grammy's, Juno's, Oscars and live theatre award events.

My question are these, do you watch them still? Are they relevant? Or do you just not bother and wait until the morning after to hear or read up on who won?

The world would be so good if it weren't for some people...

I still watch the awards shows.  Don't normally soldier though the whole program, but like a baseball or hockey I am in and out during the evening.  The Grammy Awards were well done last year, as were the JUNO Awards.  Even though I haven't gone to a theatre in years to watch a movie, I still watch a bit of the Academy Awards, and may pick up a bit of the Golden Globes.  The Billboard Awards on FOX was well done last week, but as discussed earlier, ratings were in the tank.  I don't usually watch any awards for live theatre or broadway.

Re: Tis the season and it starts on January 5th

I've covered many years of those awards and I am lucky enough to have seen them as a reporter in the earlier days where things weren't so slick.
Like going to the Junos when they were held in
a ballroom at the Royal York hotel in Toronto and watching Carol Pope grab her crotch in leather pants, in the same company as Anne Murray or Murray McLauchlan.
Also got to interview kd Lang one-on-one when she won her first Juno which she accepted in a white wedding dress.
At the Gemini awards I interviewed Rick Moranis who made fun of me apparently because I asked him how it felt to get a lot of American recognition as well as Canadian.
I grew tired of covering those awards when they eventually isolated us reporters back stage and were only able to ask the celebrities questions as they stood on a stage separated from us.
Also I grew tired of starting my coverage at about 6pm and working under stress and pressure and not getting finished until about 2 am.

I haven't watched any Award Shows in years. Not interested in hearing the "Stars" blather on about the latest political causes they support. Just say thank you ang get the hell off the stage.
